Atul Dodiya embarked
on his career in the mid ’80s, with a series of realistic painting of the
Indian middle class localities and environments. Even as Atul has moved on
from this language to working with more fragmented and multi-layered
imagery in a range of mediums from paintings to found objects to roller
shutters, he has spawned an entire generation of young artists who are now
using this language of realism.
Born in in Mumbai,
Atul received his diploma from the Sir J.J. School of Art in 1982. Apart
from several solo shows in India he has exhibited at Gallery Apunto,
Amsterdam

Kuwait
and Rome in 1986-89, 'India - Contemporary Art' World Trade Center,

Gallery, New Delhi and Mumbai, 1993 and 'Trends and Images' CIMA,
