Pranati Panda Indian, b. 1974

Biography

Born in 1974 in Bhubaneshwar, Pranati Panda completed a BFA at the B.K. College of Arts and Crafts and an MFA at the Delhi College of Art. Much of Pranati’s oeuvre is driven by self-analysis. By placing herself at the center of the self’s great experiment, she explores her philosophies on life through abstraction and anecdote. The meditation of her practice, like her distinctive thread work, finds meaning in the labour of the process, in the search for something without necessitated conclusion.

Pranati’s first solo show titled Speaking Threads was held at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi in 2019. She has also participated in several exhibitions, including Latitude 28, New Delhi (2021); Gallery Art Positive, New Delhi (2021, 2016); Ragini Art Gallery, New Delhi (2018); Religare Art, New Delhi (2012); Exhibit 320, New Delhi (2010); Tangerine Art Space, Bangalore (2008); Shrine Gallery and Empire Art, Singapore (2008); Project 88, Mumbai (2007); and Grosvenor Vadehra, London (2007), among others.

Pranati was also awarded the Orissa State Akademi Award in 1993.

The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
