Inside The Utopia: Linsey Young On Curating ‘Women on the Edge of Time’

Waquar Habib | Robb Report

It is a group show. A cluster of nine women artists. While someone is a nonagenarian in the roster, someone else is fairly young, bringing to the show a broad scope for insight. The questions revolve around  bodily autonomy, ecology, inheritance, labour and more, and as you ascend from the ground floor, witnessing rather fragile installations and artworks that reclaim the Western nude tradition through a female gaze, the first floor confronts you with political posters and photographs of women leading protests from the late 20th-century. However, when curator Linsey Young sits down to talk about her new exhibition, she doesn't begin with an artist, or a theme, or even a gallery. She begins with a book.
